Re: The Mystery E5-2699CV4 Xeon

You are right x3; I think I was looking at a different model when I wrote the fan count.

It comes with no fans, so you could put them on which direction you wanted, but I think your logic is sound.

Yeah I lot more I think unless you are running 1050s or something.

Yeah you're probably right, although it is interesting that it is both these variants that have failed.

Re: The Mystery E5-2699CV4 Xeon

Hmm.. or maybe not seeing as I just found this! This is probably the best GPU (server) rack I have ever seen and it pretty much replicates the £50K HPC GPU (server) racks by Supermicro and NVidia. If only I could find someone to buy my 25U server rack, as I now want to upgrade to a 36U version! Key ...

Re: The Mystery E5-2699CV4 Xeon

The seller said they are the same as the normal 99V4's except these were made for Sun microsystems. They are definity not the same; I'm not sure about them being via Sun Microsystems. I don't think there are seconds (as they are listed as official 99's); the reason they are so much cheaper is becaus...

Re: Holy Grail: Dual V1 Xeon Mobo £69.99

Just out of interest, are the 2 boards that have now failed S2600CP4 or S2600CP versions? Could be useful to know if its the earlier version failing, especially if anyone is going to buy anymore of these boards in the future.

The Mystery E5-2699CV4 Xeon

So I came across something very strange and after searching Google I cannot find any reference or anything about it.. A Xeon E5-2699CV4 unlike the normal E5-2699V4 So what on earth does the C indicate? From what I can see on the sellers specification, it seems to be exactly the same as the non-C ver...

Re: Holy Grail: Dual V1 Xeon Mobo £69.99

I was wondering if someone was going to spot the CPU coolers direction.. These are Hyper 103s so like the EVO 212s you can point them in any direction. At the moment I am out of U space in the server rack so am going to build this into a Enthoo pro case (which has top fans) hence why they are facing...

Re: Holy Grail: Dual V1 Xeon Mobo £69.99

Hyper 103; These are pretty much the standard CPU cooler I use on everything now, as they are low cost, effective at cooling, fit Intel core and xeon LGA2011/LGA2011-3, and most importantly fit within a 4U rack chassis.

Re: Benchmarking Linux vs Windows

I have now moved the Linux install to the HD, and have also test-setup Linux on the V4 Xeon and I7-490 for further benchmarking.

Yesterday achieved the same results on the Thread Rippers for Linux over Windows 10 as the previous day. 45K vs 25K

Re: Benchmarking Linux vs Windows

It will be interesting to see if Linux has a similar credit output to Windows 7. Personally I hate Win7 so I am going to move all hosts to Linux Mint now as its so simple and looks and works just like Windows (pretty much). Although I'll probably keep all the hosts on a dual Win/Linux boot, just in ...

Benchmarking Linux vs Windows

So I was told by a few BOINC people that considerable more output could be achieved on Linux over Windows (upto 50%), so I decided to put it to the test on a pair of Thread Rippers (TR) running on WCG. Interestly this is the same thing that was mentioned by many people also for crypto mining. Please...
