World Scout Jamboree 2019

Hi all, As you may or may not know, the 24th World Scout Jamboree is being held in West Virginia, USA in July – August 2019. This is the biggest scouting event of the calendar, and this WSJ is set to be the biggest ever, with nearly 45,000 participants attending! The WSJ is a chance for scouts aroun...

Re: Fundraising (website running costs)

Hi Tim,

No worries! Always happy to help the team out! :D While I hadn't put many credits in for a while, I thought I'd give a couple of pounds to help the running of the stuff behind the scenes :)

Re: Fundraising (website running costs)

That would be me :) Wasn't much, but I wanted to give something back to the team - I'm planning on doing a bigger one at some point in the new year :)

Re: Bitcoin - $10,000...

I think ReddCoin is similar to that... You use PoS and 'stake' your coins - the more you have, the more 'weight' you have and the higher your chance of finding a block (every 1-2 mins) and therefore getting a reward :D I have about $10 of RDD staking (they earn more weight the longer you've had them...

Re: Bitcoin - $10,000...

Ouch! That must be annoying to have spent it! Ah well, hindsight is a bit of a pain... I have been looking into CureCoin a bit, actually, so I might consider that soon :) I also have some Reddcoin sitting in a wallet and staking, so hopefully they'll grow soon too! :D I'll also look into buying like...

Does that mean you've managed to invent time travel as well?!

Mark
Thanks, Mark! (And Chris too :D ) I wish I'd invented time travel - could bring in some serious money to buy new gear ;)

Bitcoin - $10,000...

Just checked the Bitcoin price and it's nearly $10k for one! It seems hard to believe that they were worth about $300-500 this time a year or two ago, but they're now at nearly $10k! After reading this, I recovered one of my old Bitcoin wallets that I'd used with 'faucets' (free Bitcoin dispensers) ...

Re: 4 years of computing time

Hi Tim,

Thanks! It's an odd one because the actual hobby doesn't take much 'effort' per se, it's the tracking and interaction that takes the time! It's one I enjoy though :) and even if I slip off the radar occasionally, I'll be back :D

4 years of computing time

Just checked my WUProp hours and at some point within the last few hours, I've hit 35,040 computing hours - 4 years! :D And I've been a member of BOINC for ~3 years, so I'm averaging well over a year's worth of work a year :D

Re: Pi 2 - Projects?

This is a Pi Model B (not the Pi 2 Model B, I don't think...). I'll have a proper look at collatz as soon as this SETI WU has finished :)

Re: Pi 2 - Projects?

Thanks, Scole :)

When you say 'tally', what do you mean by this? Just run projects to get some more hours? And I think Collatz has an app but it was estimating ~15-20 days/job and I didn't want to risk the Pi deciding to turn off after say 10 days and having all of that work wasted!

Re: Pi 2 - Projects?

If anyone wants to track the Pi (for whatever reason), here you go:

https://boincstats.com/en/stats/-1/host ... 391684d845

It also has SETI running on it, but the WUs each take a couple of days... Wonder what it pays though? :)

Pi 2 - Projects?

Hi all, Thanks to chriscambridge, I now have an RPi 2 Model B waiting to be set up on BOINC :D (waiting on an HDMI cable then will have it up and running :) ). I was wondering - apart from the 'obvious' projects (WUProp, Goofy, any other NCI projects) - which projects should I put on it? For this, I...

Re: 1 Million on Goofy :)

Hi all, Yep, I'm THAT Chris :D I had to take a break from crunching, but I'm back now :) I did have a lot of help on BU - perhaps 800k are my own work! :) Yes, here's to another million project and form other people to hit their milestones too! I have a few that I'm currently working on (including w...
